State Company "Grain of Ukraine" will become the state operator for the supply of grain abroad - Ministry of Agrarian Policy
The ministry of agrarian policy initiates creation of company «Grain of Ukraine». A project of the proper decision now other ministries and departments have on a concordance, the minister of agrarian policy Yuri Mel’nik reported in an exclusive interview to the weekly «Power of money» (¹42, from 16.10.09). According to him, this structure will work as an operator on the domestic market in order to maintain stable grain prices, as well as be able to sell part of its production to foreign markets. Creation of new state operator a minister named the forced measure: «If «Bread of Ukraine» could attract credits and buy grain on state elevators, and then to export him, as it was years 6-7 back, a question would not rise about creation of new operator».
Yu.Mel’nik marked also, that a new company would export 1-2 million tons of grain.In addition, the Minister noted that from 1 July to 12 October this year shipped abroad 7.4 million tons of grain, which is 100-200 thousand tons more than in 2008 for the same date. Therefore, the outlook for exports remains the same - 17-18 million tons of grain.
Also, Yu Melnick said that "now we note the growing interest in foreign markets to our protein products - soybean and peas. Therefore, we are talking about that in the next planting season we have increased plantings of these crops.
