The growth rate of agricultural production in January 2010, shows one of the best January figures for 2001-09 period. - Ministry of Economy of Ukraine

As it became known from the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the implementation of government anti-crisis measures to stabilize the situation in the agro-industrial sector in 2009 has enabled the growth of agricultural production and in January 2010

In particular, the growth rate of agricultural production was 5,4%, which is one of the highest rates for 2001-2009. When the average production growth was at 2,6%.

At the same time in the agricultural enterprises of production increased by 12,7%, in households - fell by 0,3%. "Taking into account the seasonal nature of crop production, gross output of agriculture was formed at the expense of livestock production", - said the report.

In turn, the development of production in the livestock industry has continued to provide a positive influence last year’s bumper harvest of cereal crops (46 million tons). So, as of February 1, 2010, compared with the same date last year, the number of pigs increased by 16,4%, sheep and goats - on 4,9%. In addition, due to the increased number of birds in all categories of farms (on 7,3%) there was an increase of egg production (by 2,9%).

According to a report in all categories of farm livestock and poultry for slaughter (live weight) increased by 0,9% (against a decrease of 5,3% in January 2009). Value of total livestock and poultry breeding for their implementation at slaughter was 119.4% (in January 2009 - 109,8%).
