Ukraine goes to first place in Europe on the production of poultry meat

In addition, Ukraine for the production of poultry meat goes in first place in Europe - 1 million tons of poultry consumption reached 22 kg per capita (in the EU - 24 kg).
As stressed A. Bakumenko, Ukraine strict veterinary legislation and product’s quality is high. On poultry farms conducted a study of each party.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association "Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine said that the importation of controlled much less:" Imported meat products investigated selectively, to 20% of its products. Here is prevalent low-grade products, amounting to 90% beef, 40% of pork, poultry . Up to 50 tons goes to Ukraine Mechanically separated meat (especially processed meat and bone residues). In such products, meat processing companies are interested because it is cheaper. In 2008, disposed of 6 thousand tons in Ukraine received poor-quality meat products. In particular through Transnistria imported 160 tons of uncontrolled meat production.
A. Bakumenko also noted that, for example, the U.S. exported only hams, they are cheap, but it is expensive breast and covers the cost of other parts of the carcass.
According to experts, the EU has both tariff protection, and quality system, which do not allow low quality products. A Ukrainian enterprises producing high quality chilled meat, it is difficult to compete with cheap imported low-grade meat products. The Association has filed anti-dumping investigation, said A. Bakumenko. He stressed that the State shall ensure that incoming goods were of high quality, clean up, then the competition will be healthy.
