Production of poultry meat and eggs in Ukraine meets the European standards

According to the final report of the European Commission (EC), which was submitted to the Ukrainian side on the audit control system in the production of poultry products and eggs, these domestic products conform to European standards.

Thus, taken another important step on the path of access of Ukrainian goods to the markets of European countries.

In particular, EU officials acknowledged that in Ukraine, in practice, introduced an efficient system of production control at factories and farms. At the same time, the report emphasizes the importance of implementing additional measures to ensure the proper maintenance of animals in slaughterhouses. Recall the expert mission of the Office of Food and Veterinary Medicine of the European Commission remained in Ukraine from 17 to 27 May 2010

In July of this year, the Ukrainian side referred to the EC action plan to implement the recommendations of the inspectors to remedy the deficiencies identified. The plan the European Commission declared admissible. In addition, since July 1, 2010 Russia lifted restrictions on imports from Ukraine of all types of animal products, but only from those companies that have been inspected by Russian experts.

These solutions create favorable conditions for exports of domestic poultry farmers. For the domestic market in Ukraine is almost saturated and the potential for development of the industry is only in the case of increasing supply abroad.

For example, according to Goskomstat, in 2009 the consumption of poultry meat per capita was 23 kg, which corresponds to a similar indicator of European countries. Last year it was produced 15.6 billion eggs, of which the domestic market were consumed no more than 13 billion pieces.
