The Mexican Government has authorized the production of maize containing GMOs
The government of Mexico long resisted to these innovations as wished to keep manufacture of a natural product. Opinions of farmers also were divided. One consider, that it will allow to compete to import, cheaper deliveries of a corn, other farmers do not agree with this decision as see in it threat for an agricultural heritage.
Mexico is considered the native land of a corn. Mexico makes enough corn for satisfaction of demands of the population inside of the country, but imports more than 10 million tons of a corn with content ÃÌÎ for a forage of animals. Disputes in occasion of use of genetically changed seeds were conducted 10 years. Besides the government imposed the moratorium on use of similar seeds in Mexico.
According to agency " Reuters ", on several fields testings were already spent, and landowners have received satisfactory result.
Supporters of genic engineering speak, that manufacture of such product will make break in a national economy and manufacture of a corn as a whole as Mexico can compete to such giants-manufacturers ÃÌÎ of a corn as the USA and Brazil.
